A newly preserved property in Hunting Valley

Ever Green EverBlue 2011was held at the historic Ingalls estate known as Stoneybrook Farm. The party will overlook David Ingalls’ legendary landing strip, on which renowned aviators such as Charles Lindbergh touched down. Lucky Lindy frequently visited his friends in Hunting Valley after his 1927 solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

While Lindbergh was less than enthralled with the valley’s tricky winds, he found natural beauty when he landed. Nearly a century later, there is little wonder why both the Village of Hunting Valley and Western Reserve Land Conservancy viewed this 125-acre estate as one of the region’s top conservation properties.

The property, which is on the east side of Chagrin River Road, has nearly a mile of frontage on the State Scenic Chagrin River and contains exceptional biological features, including wetlands rated in the state’s highest category.  The fields and bottomland forest are home to wild turkeys, deer, red-tailed hawks, boblinks, bluebirds and songbirds. To the south is the iconic White North Stables, the valley’s historic equestrian center.

In a marriage of conservation and historical preservation, this beautiful field where Lindbergh once landed has been permanently protected by the Village and the Land Conservancy
